Connecting Congregations to Social Media Tools for Engagement

The Jewish Education Project convened the first ever Regional Task Force Meeting for three Early Childhood Institutions in our Gateways to Engagement Program.  Task force members from Beth El Synagogue Center, Westchester Jewish Center and Community Synagogue of Port Washington (who connected virtually) participated, including lay leaders, teachers, clergy, Education Committee chairs, Early Childhood directors, Executive Directors and Religious School Directors.

Participants engaged in an interactive presentation led by Miriam Brosseau, our Social Media Manager, on social media principles and how they relate to Jewish values.  They then learned how they can use social media as a tool to engage young families, using mediums such as Facebook and their synagogue website.  Each synagogue was also guided through the process of analyzing their current web presence to see how they can improve it in order to connect with more families.  This meeting provided the congregations with a baseline conversation to discuss social media and the tools to return to their own individual task force meetings and implement these new ideas.
