Youth Professionals Game Changing Trip to London and Israel

10 of our youth professionals have returned from London and Israel on an experiential learning expedition as part of Operation GameChanger.

Our talented staff members led the group first to London for Limmud UK where they joined over 2000 participants for an amazing Jewish learning and Jewish peoplehood experience.  They were exposed to over 1000 sessions of Jewish learning of all kinds, and shared lighting Chanukah candles with 2000 people.  The group met with British teens as well as with youth professionals from all over Europe and local youth movement educators to share commonalties and challenges.  The Limmud UK leadership also taught the group about how they constructed the educational experience of Limmud and about the Teen Limmud track.  Learn more about Limmud UK here: http://www.limmud.org/

After an inspiring Shabbat in local British Jewish communities, the group went to Israel, where they participated in creativity and innovation training with SIT (Systematic Inventive Thinking), explored educational narratives, and learned about Israel education.  The educators learned how to generate ideas, were exposed to exciting new ideas and methods, and gained a deeper understanding of Israel.  Highlights included hearing multiple narratives on education, life in Israel, Judaism, and the Arab-Israel conflict.

The goal of this program was for the youth professionals to come back to their home institutions better equipped as more sophisticated and knowledgeable educators and armed with tools to help them develop and design new models of teen engagement within their institutions.  The educators were blown away by their experiences and are now thinking in new and different ways about the way they engage with Israel, Judaism and education.
